In addition to their main office in Scandinavia they have offices in the Far East and the UK. As their UK office continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer to be based in Bristol with a qualification from the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) industry and with experience in providing technical support in accordance with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework. The position is permanent.
Key Features of the Role:
The position will be instrumental in the provision of ICT technical support service including operating systems (Windows & Linux), RDBS (primarily SQL Server), 3rd party software (primarily VMware), proprietary software and networks (LAN/WAN).
Across the various locations preventative and rectification maintenance will be necessary both on land and offshore. Along with the varied challenges will be the installation, commissioning and setting-to-work activities at their world-wide customer locations to coincide with the provision of technical and operational training at those same locations. Remote and onsite support, 24/7, is managed on a rota system allowing coverage nationally and on a globally.
Within the Company there will be provision to provide technical support to the Marketing and Sales departments along with the production of important regular reports and necessary documentation for administration and invoicing purposes.
Support will be varied in location and discipline, covering the marine sensors including radar, radio, CCTV, AIS, etc. On a more personal level this position will contribute in customer support department meetings, if required.
A significant amount of time will be spent in Scandinavia, especially during the probationary period. Thereafter, extensive travel can be expected within UK and overseas including working offshore and at height.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will ideally be an accomplished IT Support Engineer, a team player but also able to work independently. The main gauge for success will be from results achieved and actions undertaken coupled with good communication skills - clarity of message is important.
Other essential requirements are: ITIL Foundation and MCSA: SQL Server 2014/16, ITIL & T-SQL optimisation.
There is also a preference for: CCNA, SaaS, Amazon Web Services or equivalent and Docker or equivalent.
What`s on Offer:
Annual remuneration package of £30-35k depending upon your experience and skill set.
5% pension and other benefits which include 20 days holiday plus bank and public holidays, life insurance; parking, medical and dental insurance. A Car is negotiable.
