The Company and the Role:

The Company is a nationwide waste compactor servicing, baler servicing and waste handling equipment maintenance company.

They are focused on a single purpose, to help their clients operate their waste handling operations at maximum efficiency and at minimum cost.

Their unique background means that they have built up an impressive amount of experience and have designed the right systems, tools and services to meet the needs of those companies who wish to employ the most efficient SMR processes and operations available.

Their typical customers are Retailers, Waste Management Operators, Facilities Management Companies, Waste Recyclers, Waste Disposal Contractors, Manufacturers, Print and Paper Houses and Logistics and Distribution Companies.
They are currently seeking a Service Engineer who lives close to the M25 to provide a servicing, maintenance and repair service to the Company`s clients located within the M25. The position is permanent.

Key Features of the Role:

You will be responsible for the service, maintenance and repair to the agreed specification that meet the required quality and health and safety standards of new and refurbished waste handling machinery and any ancillary equipment.

Equipment you will typically work on is follows:

* Waste handling
* Waste Compactors
* Roll Packers
* Rotary Packers
* Balers (Horizontal, vertical, single and multi chamber)
* Shredders
* Drum Crushers
* Backstage
* Dock Bumpers
* Dock Levellers
* Scissor Lifts
* Doors
* Shelters
* Loading Bay Equipment
* Lorry Restraints
* Bin Lifters

Liaise with your Line Manager to ensure all required information has been received to ensure allocated work can take place.

Attend site-visits as issued by the Line Manager to carry out the required work on new and refurbished machinery and any ancillary equipment.

Carry all relevant equipment to ensure effective work can take place, for instance, cabling, guide rails, bolts etc.

Conduct on-site product usage and health & safety training and arrange issue of relevant certification.

Fully complete all required paperwork, obtaining on-site authorisation where required.

Comply with PPE and work-wear requirements.

Ensure your Company vehicle is maintained in line with policy requirements.

Meet agreed targets and performance levels as set by Regional Manager.

Feedback to Line Manager any modifications to machine build that can be documented for future build programme.



Knowledge and Skills:

To be considered for the role you will need to be an accomplished Service Engineer with your practical experience supported by a recognised related industry Apprenticeship / Armed Forces training.

Ideally you will have a proven number of years` experience in the waste management industry or similar industries but if not then you must have demonstrable knowledge of: Mechanical systems; Internal combustion engines; Transmission systems; Modern electronic control systems; Hydraulics; Pneumatics and Electric motors (ac & dc technology).

You will be proficient in fault finding and repair.

You will have the ability to work independently and in a team.

You must have good communication skills, oral and written.

You must be able to work to a high standard and to timescales as required.

You will have experience of and a good understanding of Health & Safety requirements working in a workshop practice.

You will have a strong commitment to continuing personal and professional development.

You will have excellent organisational skills, be resourceful and solution focused.

You will display a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail.

You will be able to multi‐task, prioritising workloads to work to tight deadlines.

You should be flexible in your approach and able to cope with the diverse needs of the post.

You will be someone who is highly motivated and possessing a resilience to work under pressure, positive, personable and optimistic with a can-do attitude.

You should be IT/ PC literate and have a full UK Drivers Licence.

Our Client is supportive to the ex-military community and therefore applications are welcome from ex-military personnel who have an electrical and / or mechanical engineering background.

You will work from home and the working hours are Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week contract. Your starting time will be anything from 6am to 8am and flexibility is required in order to finish any job on time.

Overtime is available and there is a requirement to be available for call outs once every 6 weeks for which you will be paid an additional £100 per week plus £15 per call out. Normally call outs are at weekends rather than in the evenings.

You will be provided with a fully stocked Ford Transit van stocked with most major parts and hand tools and a PDA to receive job orders.

What`s on Offer:

Basic salary is circa £30,000 per annum. In addition a London style Weighting Allowance is paid of £75 per month ( £900 per annum).

Overtime is paid at time and half. Saturdays up until 1pm is time and half and double time after that and double time all day Sunday.

For the week you are on call you will receive an additional £100 per week plus £15 per call out.

Overall your OTE earnings in a full year will be in a range of around £36,000 - £40,000 per annum.

Holiday entitlement is 20 days plus bank and public holidays rising to a maximum of 25 days after 5 years` service.

There may be occasions when you will be required to stay away from home overnight.
