An outstanding hotel engineering opportunity to join a highly recognised and popular Southampton city centre based hotel.

As Maintenance Assistant you will ssist the Maintenance Manager to carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks correctly and efficiently ensuring a safe environment for guests, visitors and employees.The position is permanent.

Assist the Maintenance Manager to carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks correctly and efficiently ensuring a safe environment for guests, visitors and employees.

Achieve this by responding swiftly and productively to all directions from Managers, ensuring high standards of guest courtesy and minimum operational disruption.

Carrying out short term (reactive) maintenance and decorating work e.g. repairs affecting guest bedrooms, public areas and services as a matter of urgency but adhering to all safety procedures whilst causing minimum disruption to guests/patrons.

Respond to complaints/problems politely, positively and professionally making every effort to resolve them. If you cannot resolve them, referring them to your Manager, for support or an alternative solution.

Be aware of the hotel security policy in place, along with hotel emergency procedures.

Use, operate and store all tools, equipment, and materials including chemicals safely and securely to comply with statutory regulations e.g. COSHH and the company Health and Safety Policy.

Furthermore, ensuring that all workshops, plant rooms and all other engineering areas are always clear from debris to ensure a clean working environment.

Develop good working relationships with external contractors.

Carry out checks of maintenance materials at least weekly, keeping stock levels to the minimum necessary to maintain continuity of service.

Be proactive in ensuring that the Hotel`s external surrounding areas are kept clean and tidy

Ensure that the workshop, plant rooms and all other engineering areas are clean and in safe condition. This includes removal from areas all items of debris or litter.

Create and maintain a pleasant and professional relationship with all members of Hotel staff.

Participate in the call out system out of normal working hours as required due to/depending on business needs.

Ensure that the brand`s standards and procedures are complied with in compliance with company and legal standards.

Knowledge and Skills:

This position would suit an experienced Maintenance Technician / Fitter.

You should have good all round knowledge of general maintenance disciplines and experience within a specialised area such as plumbing or joinery would be an advantage.

Good decorating skills will also be considered an advantage.

Experience of working in large buildings, such as hotels, care-homes, hospitals would be a distinct advantage.

You must be passionate about ensuring our guests experience outstanding hospitality in beautifully maintained surroundings.

The ability to establish rapport and deliver high standards of service with a genuine and approachable manner is essential.

You should be well-presented and punctual, responsible and well organised.

You should be someone who takes pride in their work and willing to go the extra mile.

You should be enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and trust worthy.

A flexible approach to work required - Flexible starting and stopping times to vary dependent on operational requirements.

You should possess a full, clean UK driving licence and own transport.
