SW 4986: HGV Technician
Salary: £10.78 ph plus overtime

Job Role
To plan and manage the servicing of all vehicles, plant and equipment to ensure they are compliant with legislative and Company requirements. To service vehicles and plant and to react to breakdowns in an efficient and timely manner. The ideal candidate must have experience in the servicing and maintenance of Heavy Goods Vehicles e.g. Mercedes and Volvo and Plant machinery on site.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure that all vehicles, plant and equipment are subject to routine maintenance at or before the service intervals prescribed in the relevant service instructions
- Arrange attendance for breakdowns and recovery of equipment as necessary
- Prioritise and allocate service and repair work
- Order spares and consumables as appropriate to operational needs
- Ensure that plant and vehicles are available to meet the Company’s commitments
- Ensure that all site activities comply with Company procedures and standards for quality, environmental and health & safety management
Essential Skills
- Proven understanding and experience of the specifying, maintenance and inspection of vehicles and plant within scope
- Plant maintenance experience
- Knowledge/use of Jaltest diagnostic package an advantage
- Qualified or time-served fitter with plant maintenance experience
- In-depth knowledge of the legislation and rules, regulations and requirements pertinent to vehicles, plant and equipment
- Current HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence an advantage
Based on average 40 hours per week Monday – Friday and then most Saturday mornings. On call one week in 3. Overtime paid at time and a half. 28 days holiday to include Bank Holidays.
