Description :

A world renowned public institution in the heart of Central London is seeking multiple Security Warders to provide and ensure, the security and protection of the institution`s premises, staff, visitors and its` collections.

As Security Warder, you will perform routine duties covered in the Standard Operating Procedures such as patrols and monitoring safety, as well as performing security duties at special events. The post-holder will assist visitors with enquiries and respond to incidents in a professional and calm manner.

The ideal Security Warder will have demonstrable experience of working in a security environment with knowledge of security principles, basic health and safety, and fire regulations. With SIA or equivalent experience, you will possess literacy and numeracy skills. Foreign language skills are desirable. Our client is looking for motivated individuals, who are able to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals, excellent team-work is necessary. You will also be able to relate confidently and politely to the needs of visitors with different ethnic, cultural, religious backgrounds.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Comply with security and health and safety policies.
  • To support the shift Security Manager in implementing the emergency plan.
  • In the event of an accident or incident seek support as necessary and report the circumstances.
  • Participate in the following duties; Security Support Team, Building and Basement Patrol; Routine duties covered by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including locking and unlocking duties; Routine Patrols; and Administer first aid.
  • Execution of security arrangements for Royal, VIP, special events including those for corporate sponsors and other clients.
  • Respond to intruder detection and other alarms under the direction of your line management or as instructed by Control Room and Visitor Operations staff.
  • Maintain routine communication with the Control Room and respond to calls for support.
  • Investigate report and document incidents as directed by line management.
  • Invigilate during construction/removal of exhibitions.
  • Participate in daily staff briefings of staff noting compliance, as appropriate, with Visitor Operations daily briefing sheet.
  • In conjunction with Contractors` Reception Desk and Key Pound staff, execute routine/special arrangements for contractors.
  • Assist visitors with enquiries e.g. relating to Museum facilities galleries, exhibitions and special events, referring to visitor service staff where appropriate.
  • To attend security and other appropriate training and induction programmes as directed. This is to include knowledge of the collections and current exhibitions from time to time and first aid training.
  • To provide support to new staff undertaking site induction training.
  • To make a positive contribution to the improvement of the security function.
  • In certain circumstances, warders may be required to provide cover in the following areas: Key pound, contractors` desk, control room, CCTV.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have recent SIA or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of security principles, basic H&S and Fire regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • Team-work

Desirable:

  • GCSEs or equivalent in English, Mathematics
  • Qualifications in Cultural Heritage/Customer Care e.g. NVQ
  • Qualifications in HSE First Aid at work or equivalent
  • Proficiency in IT
  • Foreign language skills
  • Experience in cultural, heritage or tourist industry
  • Work on own initiative
  • Excellent time management

Salary:            £16,967 per annum pro-rata plus a shift roster allowance of £4,080 p.a. pro-rata
