The world’s largest manufacturer of high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications is now looking for a Quality & Environment Manager to join their Head Office team. Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Quality & Environment Manager will be responsible for the effective management of quality and environment in accordance with the Group rules and policies as well as legal and external requirements such as ISO9001 and ISO14001. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing the interface with all external bodies and with Corporate Quality and Environment groups on UK Quality and Environmental issues.
  • Assuring the provision of quality and environmental measures and data, as required, for the Company sites.
  • Reviewing legislation for Quality and the Environment and advising on the applicability to Group UK operations.
  • Ensuring company returns are completed where required by legislation and, where appropriate, preparing company returns on behalf of the company, e.g. Packing Waste obligations.
  • Developing, in conjunction with HR, one integrated Management System for the Group UK.
  • Developing Group UK best practice procedures where the need is identified.
  • Conducting an annual review of the effectiveness of the Management System.
  • Coordinating and ensuring the quality activities within the UK align with Corporate policies.
  • Operating a Group UK wide internal audit system to meet ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Facilitating external audits of the company’s Management System.
  • Assisting in the assessment of new suppliers, auditing management systems and confirming quality approvals.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of approved suppliers including supplier ratings where applicable.

 

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated preferably up to degree level or similar in a relevant Technical/Engineering subject.
  • Certificate in Quality Management.
  • Membership with a relevant institution (e.g. CQI).
  • A high degree of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience and knowledge of management systems and methodologies.
  • Relevant quality, environment and auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of risk management best practices and ability to communicate these at all levels across the Company.
  • IT skills in MS Office.
