This field based role is with a European surveying and geographical measurement company that provides sensor technology, including GPS satellite navigation and laser rangefinders, to allow construction and civil engineering projects to proceed rapidly and with great accuracy. Your role is to provide technical support for this company’s construction industry Machine Control solutions. This includes after-sales support and servicing, supporting distribution partners in delivering solutions to market, promotion and support of products internally and externally. You must be prepared for extensive travel and days away from home including overnight stays as required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Technical support and training for all Machine Control solutions, positioning sensors (GPS, TPS and Laser), site infrastructure setup and data preparation for Machine Control applications
- Assistance and 2nd line support to distribution partners for technical queries and issues
- Ongoing technical training and support to customers, distribution partners and end users
- Document and generate reports as per QA procedures for all technical events and issues
- Become expert in machine control solutions and related positioning sensors
- Understand new sensor developments and software/ firmware releases
- Provide support and technical knowledge for all shows, exhibitions, open days and demonstrations to company and distribution sales teams
- Maintain accurate records of all stock holdings and movements, both internally and externally
- Test and check new releases before implementing changes to any customer systems
- Fully understand and implement company policies
- Add value to products and services through customer satisfaction focus

- The ideal person will be a positive team player capable of championing the company brand. You will also have an ability to communicate technical knowledge to all levels of understanding. You must be a problem solver who can quickly analyse, identify, define and resolve issues. Operating efficiently under time and customer pressures is essential as is the confidence to work under your own initiative. You will be able to show entrepreneurial drive and a strong work ethic.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications - desirable:
- Higher Education Qualifications – Survey/Civil Engineering with 1 to 2 years site experience or associated qualifications and or experienced based industry qualification
- Experience in GNSS systems and software, total stations and laser positioning equipment and the use and application of such technology within the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of survey/construction instruments (GPS, TPS, Laser) and design and data processing software
- Experience of working within the UK construction industry
- Ability to understand technical or mechanical issues related to construction machinery
- An understanding of UK construction terminology, practices and developments
- Strong sense of urgency, responsibility and accountability
- Fluent verbal and written English
- A clean UK driving licence
Computer Skills:
- Working experience of using survey applications, design or mapping software suites
- A strong aptitude for technology and associated software developments
- Capable user of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
