HQ4882: Structural Design Engineer
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
An opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in Structural Design, Manufacturing and Installation of tensile membrane structures, solar car ports and Building Integrated Photo Voltaic (BIPV) structures. This company’s unique, creative and relevant designs have led to its rapid expansion and they are now looking for qualified Structural Engineer to join the team.
Applications from ex-military personnel i.e. Navy, Royal Air Force (RAF) or Army are strongly encouraged.
This position is ideally suited for someone who is experienced in both steel and aluminium design and manufacturing. You will have a solution-focused approach to challenges and your creativity will facilitate this. If you are not already a Chartered Engineer, you will have sufficient post qualification practical experience within a design office to gain Chartered status within a year of joining the team.
Main Duties:
- You will need to demonstrate a clear career history as a Structural Engineer.
- Design both steel and aluminum structures
- Work on AutoCAD to produce 2D drawings and 3D modelling
- Produce fabrication drawings
- Liaising with our in-house production team and supplier network to ensure materials are ready in accordance with agreed standards
- Have relevant civil engineering experience to calculate concrete foundations for the structures
Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:
Essential:
- University degree
- Valid clean Driving License
- Experience in Steel structural analysis
- Practical knowledge of the British Standards
- Practical knowledge of the Eurocodes
- Work on your own initiative or as part of a small team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Intermediate knowledge & working experience using Microsoft Word & Excel.

- Civil engineering qualification

SALARY
Ranges between £40,000 and £50,000 depending on experience.
HOURS
The Structural Design Engineer will work 40-hour weeks.
