SW 4826: Engineering Process Manager
Salary: £45,000
Location: The Falkland Islands
My client is looking for an Engineering Process Manager for a 12-month fixed term contract in The Falkland Islands. The Manager will lead a small team of engineers to oversee the operation of plant equipment to dispose of contaminated oil waste. Due to the technical nature of the Process Plant, a strong mechanical and electrical engineering background is likely to provide the attributes for success. Training will take place in Devon or Hampshire and following pre-deployment holidays the team will deploy to the Falkland Island in Jan 18.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the smooth operation of the processing plant and achieving the planned liquid flow through the plant
- Liaison with UKLF, Falklands Island Staff and Mount Pleasant Airfield (MPA) Staff
- Management of the engineering team
- Manage the rotation of staff to UK ensuring that the operational capability of the plant is maintained
- Manage the development of the plant, suggesting ideas for its improvement
- Maintain a professional team that is a good ambassador for the client at all times
- Have the technical knowledge to deputise for the Deputy Manager (Fitter) and the Deputy Manager (Sampling and Testing) in their absence on rotation
Experience and Qualifications:
- A full Fitter Apprenticeship or ex-forces Engineer with excellent experience (likely to have served as a Warrant Officer or equivalent).
- A strong mechanical and electrical engineering background is an essential requirement
- Recognised mechanical and electrical engineering qualifications
- Workshop/Ship Engineering Manager experience or similar is desirable
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, upwards and downwards, to own staff and military staff and other contractors that you meet at MPA
- Experience of sampling and testing fuel/oil would be an advantage
Training would commence in the UK approx. October with work starting in January 2018 (15 months in total). This role will ideally suit someone from a Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force background. Simple, but comfortable accommodation and meals will be provided in the MPA area at no cost (civilian contractor units). 6 weeks holiday every 6 months working on a rota basis with the other team members.
