The world’s largest manufacturer of high-technology cables and systems for energy and telecommunications is now looking for a temporary Contracts Manager to join its team. Reporting to the Commercial and Contracts Manager, the Contracts Manager will have responsibility for a range of High Voltage and Extra High Voltage turnkey cable projects within the UK.
The Contracts Manager role may suit someone with excellent communication and negotiating skills and experience who wishes to use his or her technical and project management skills and experience in the High Voltage Cable industry in a head office contract management role. The person appointed would need to be flexible and available to travel throughout the UK and NI for relatively short periods for the purpose of attending meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring that all materials and works procured internally and externally are obtained at a cost which is within the budget value allocated at the tender stage.
In conjunction with the management accountant, production of a monthly contract financial review, which clear shows costs to date, anticipated costs to come, variation value, anticipated final cost and contribution margin.
Ensuring that all material is supplied and work is performed in accordance with the agreed contract programme and scope.
Identifying any variations to contract and ensuring that all claims for additional moneys and/or extensions to time for completion are submitted in the format and within the time scales required by the conditions of contract.
Requesting allocation of head office design and site manpower resources in sufficient time to ensure The Company meets its contractual commitments.
Liaising closely with the clients, subcontractors and all internal departments in order to ensure that all parties are aware of The Company’s interpretation of the contractual requirements and key milestones.
Attending progress meetings with clients and subcontractors at site and head office.
Negotiating claims for additions to contract with clients
Controlling sub-contractor costs and negotiating any sub-contractor claims for addition to contract
Actively monitoring site activities in conjunction with the Company Site Project Manager
Reviewing and monitoring projects using MS Project.
Ensuring compliance to safety, environmental, quality and security procedures. Promote a culture of safety, quality and environmental best practice at all times by means of effective communication and site audits.
Ensuring that all works are carried out to company procedure.
