Description :

Our Client is a privately owned international logistics, construction, procurement and facilities management provider. They are specialists in providing their services in mining, oil and gas, post conflict, remote and other arduous environments.

Evolving from early roots in Africa over 40 years ago, our client has substantial experience providing integrated solutions and delivering comprehensive projects in mining, oil and gas and post conflict zones and developing countries and remote locations worldwide.

Headquartered in Dubai, they began serving clients in Afghanistan in 2002 and in the years since has grown into a large multifaceted firm, employing over 1,000 staff from 27 different nations. Today they manage projects in such locations as North Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, Uganda and Somalia.
They are currently seeking a QA/QC Engineer to be based in the Somalia, Africa. The contract is initially for 12 months with extensions depending upon performance.

Reporting into the Project Manager, you will inspect the critical Civil/MEP / Architectural processes or activities to ensure conformance to requirements against specifications as per project plan. In addition, you will maintain, design and control quality strategies and quality management systems, ensuring maximum quality enhancement of the project.

You will work on site monitoring quality and completing inspections.
You will review all materials received on the site, inspecting them, ensuring they are of the highest quality.
You will check all work against approved drawings.
You will report non compliances to the management team ensuring they are closed out and reported.
You will support the Engineers in performing specialist QA/ QC techniques on CIVIL/ MEP/ Architectural installations and processes.
You will log all inspections and findings, preparing a daily report for the Project Manager
You will report deviations from approved plans and specifications
You will maintain the QA/QC paperwork - test papers, files, reports and certificates
You will conduct testing within the required specification or ITP
Where possible you will identify defect trends and will implement plans for rectification Finally, you will attend and participate in QA/QC meetings when required


Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished QA/QC Engineer with significant experience in a QA/QC department in a Construction environment
Your practical experience should ideally be supported by a Bachelors` Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
You will ideally have experience of working in Africa.
You will have excellent communication skills and good knowledge of report writing
You will have team leadership skills as well as ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
You will be able to manage, organize, plan and implement work assignments, juggle competing demands and work under pressure of frequent and tight deadlines.

You will have strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with people in multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect of diversity.

You will have a commitment to continuous learning - willing to keep abreast of new developments in working environment.
Finally, you should be pc literate, e.g. MS office and you should also possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished QA/QC Engineer looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in US dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. A bonus is payable on company performance and successful project completion
A 12 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, insurances and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 66 days and there are 3 free flights per year back to your home base. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
