They are currently seeking a Deputy Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance Manager (DEVMM) to be based at Kandahar International Airport, Afghanistan. The position is offered on a 12 month renewable contract.

Reporting into the Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance Manager(EVMM), you will be responsible for the supervision of the EVM facility managing a team of 10 staff.

You will be responsible for supervising equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair operations for a large fleet of military/civilian assets including, but not limited to, line haul, vertical handling, material handling, light and heavy vehicles, and/or construction equipment.
In conjunction with the EVMM, you will assist in the planning of the vehicle maintenance and recovery operations in accordance with applicable contract requirements, company policies, government regulations, and military standards
You will manage the administration, maintenance, and distribution of approved publications, warranties, and government required documentation such as lost, theft, damaged, and destroyed and damage reports.
You will assist the EVMM in the preparation of budgets, analysis of departments, and reporting for the maintenance operation, track equipment usage, maintain appropriate stock levels, and maximize cost avoidance measures
Finally, you will assist with team development and will enforce guidelines to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of assigned employees.

Knowledge and Skills:

You will be an accomplished Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance Manager / Supervisor with excellent knowledge of maintenance management and supply principles, production, and US military maintenance support systems for material handling, heavy truck, and/or heavy equipment.
Ideally your practical work experience will be supported by a qualification in logistics, management, or an associated discipline.
Ideally you will have knowledge of applicable standards and regulations such as Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), military, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements.
You should be experienced in equipment parts acquisition and warranty procedures.
You should possess excellent inter-personal and leadership skills.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally, you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC literate with MS Office, e mail and the Internet.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance Manager / Supervisor looking for something different.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, medical / health insurances and meals are all provided free. In addition, you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees will work 4 months on, 2 weeks off.

In addition, Ex-Patriate employees will receive paid return economy flights when commencing and returning from their R and R. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
